So I have seen a bunch of videos online of people making their own AAC formicariums out of AAC bricks. The name sounded so familiar to me, and now I remember why.

One of my long time hobbies is playing Warhammer 40k and one of the parts of playing the game is making terrain for the game. I remember my dad telling me how awesome of a material it is for making buildings, bunkers, entire wargaming tables even! But it wasn't allowed in Cali. I checked, and yeah can't get it here(unless where I checked online was incorrect or the info is old)

So my question is to any and all Cali residents what do you do? Do you just buy premade ones? Use acrylic and glass only? Use a different material? What are our options?

I use k-23 firebrick and it works pretty well.

Yeah I saw the post about firebrick like an hour after I posted mine lol. I will look into that

I looked this up as well, there are a few good resources in the "Handy Links" sticky thread.

 

I ordered a K-23 Softbrick from an online School Supply store for about $6.50 + $10 shipping. That was because I didn't want to drive 15 miles and pay for a single brick.

In retrospect, I should have made the trip to the local pottery supply store, since it would have allowed me to start working on the formicarium sooner and I could have bought 3 bricks.
