My name is Crystal and I live in Athabasca, Alberta (Canada). I have a dog, 2 cats, fish, and, of course, ants.
I have sold/given away 8 colonies already locally, but I still have 5 left.
Camponotus herculeanus
2 Lasius sp (I believe they are different species, but the workers will tell)
2 Formica Ulkei queens (brood boosted with pupae, spring will tell if they are fertile or not)
Ytong is more or less unobtainable up here, and I refuse to pay $50-80 to ship one block. After some research I took a list of posible formicarium materials to the store, only to discover the only materials in the area were plaster of paris or grout. I have experimented with grout and have more or less gotten it down pat. I have posted a thread on how to make grout formicariums.
I bring about 15 years of experience from the aquarium hobby and had 9 tanks at once, with my biggest being a 90 gallon high tech planted tank. I am looking forward to see how I can combine knowledge from one field into the next.
