Odontomachus desertorum nanitics

ponerinae odontomachus desertorum trapjaw ant nanitic

Odontomachus desertorum nanitics

my trapjaws are coming along nicely. I'm going to be making dedicated outworlds for these guys.

I'm soooo glad I collected a bunch of males for insurance, it seems all my queens are fertile now.

i was worried at first because she kept killing cocoons but I think those cocoons were males and she didn't want them to hog resources.
I never got to witness mating though, unfortunately. I did observe courtship- which involves alot of antennae whips, and drumming with legs.

looks like soliciting trophallaxis a little, but it was definitely courtship.
