the non-polygynous populations still practice pleometrosis in which multiple queens unrelated will found together as a group, but eventually one queen will remain- the dominant queen will mutiny against her sisters.
however, this population doesnt do this, for some reason. perhaps it's the abundance of water and food and good habitat here as opposed to the harsh brutal deserts of california.
