I got this colony from nurbs last month with 9 workers, a few eggs and about 4-5 large larvae.
I liked my modocs so much I wanted another camponotus colony. These ants are entirely black and shiny, with white hairs on their gasters.
I noticed, these ants are much better eaters than my modocs in that they clean the crickets I give down to the shell. They also like to dig into the cotton.
Here is the queen.
workers with previous large larvae (now large pupae) and the egg pile. the tiny larva looks like its already dying.
I am keeping them in almost the exact same setup I'm keeping my modocs. A grout bottom, 2 test tubes setups, and a vinyl tube running through one side so i can run a heating cable through.
hope you follow and enjoy as I update
