1. Location (on a map) of collection: Spanish Wells, Bahamas (Small Island)
2. Date of collection: 8/2/17
3. Habitat of collection: under either a coconut or rock, in a patch of coconut trees.
4. Length (from head to gaster): Roughly 6mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Brownish red gaster, mesosoma, head. Yellow/Orange legs.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Postpetiole absent. Sculptured head.
7. Distinguishing behavior: Nothing distinctive
8. Nest description: N/A

I think you're right, Tapinoma litorale. If not, it could be Myrmelachista ramulorum.

I think you're right, Tapinoma litorale. If not, it could be Myrmelachista ramulorum.


Too bad there's not a queen specimen of that species. The workers looks really similar, especially the petiole.

It looks like the postpetiole is absent.

It's probably close to the thorax.

I see. I should have got a side shot. It does look a lot like Pheidole.
