1. Location of collection: Dracut, Massachusetts
2. Date of collection: 5/18/17, roughly 5:00 PM.
3. Habitat of collection: Backyard, at the base of a a wooden fence; Forest was close by.
4. Length (from head to gaster): ~15mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black head, dark red mesosoma, black gaster.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Postpetiole absent. Posterior margin of the head is flat.
7. Distinguishing behavior: Stays extremely still in her test tube.
8. Nest description: No nest
I assume this is a Camponotus novaeboracensis queen, but wanted to make sure.
