So, there's been a lot of talk recently about looking out for Prenolepis flights. Although these are of course the main species I will be keeping an eye out for on Saturday, here are some rarer, but VERY interesting species I would recommend keeping an eye out for. Some of them even fly in January, but March seems to be a pretty common prime-time for these guys.
1. Frachtomyrmex Sedarus
2. Frachtomyrmex Delirium
3. Frachtomyrmex Chiliria
4. Bloromorium Velarus
5. Septodontracha Ephracygus
6. Spetodontracha Iridexi
7. Jeldan-Xenia Gepheramia
8. Zirconium Cubicilicus
9. Kryptothorax Yittrium
10. Kryptothorax Literops
11. Xerneas Acanthropods
12. Pinkomyrmex Floyderus
They're less common and not very well known, but they deserve attention too! Most of them prefer temperate regions, common forests found all the way from NJ and MA on the East Coast.
Good luck finding them, I guarantee it'll be almost impossible.
