Hi guys,

As my love of ants grows I've decided to start a new ant keeping blog.

http://www.gamergate.com.au
The modern ant keeping blog.

Let me know what you think.

Very neat and tidy, I have shared it in the Australian Antkeepers group on Facebook.

When I saw this I brushed off an old design from 2 years ago.

Then made it a bit larger and added two ports for tubes.

The design is free to use and can be printed locally.  A laser cutter is needed for the acrylic top.

All of my working design files are on Github and final optimized 3d printed items are on my Thingiverse

If you need something 3d printed I'm on 3d Hubs

All of my designs are open source licensed under CC-Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International unless otherwise noted, but it'll be a rare exception.

Very pretty blog! I think the font used for body text is a bit too condensed though...

In addition to all the good things people have said so far, it appears to be very inclusive.  We don't see enough inclusivity in this community.

Thanks Terry, we're trying to be very inclusive and offer unbiased informative posts for ant keepers.

Hmmmm, what are other's opinions on this? We may consider expanding the text somewhat.

That is a fantastic website, but I have to ask, what's with the name?

https://en.wikipedia...ate_controversy

That is literally the only thing I, and probably now millions of people, think of when they read "gamergate". Is it related to ants in some way that I'm not aware of?

Haha!  I personally thought it was clever, though I suspected some in North America may be confused.

Gamergate is, and has always been, an ant term to describe an ant that reproduces—similar to a queen.  The reason it is more familiar in the east vs here in the west, is because they have some ants with very different social hierarchies, like the queenless Diacamma or Myrmecia, where old gamergates may be "overthrown" in combat and replaced by a younger gamergate.

The "a" is pronounced like yam or sam—gam - er - gate.

Your DNS is wonky.  It was redirecting me to a parked domain page for a few days before dspdrew cobbled together a fix for me on my end.  You definitely want to look into that.

I personally like the style and font of the body text. But everyone's eyes are different.

Those Myrmecia are very cool looking ants, and I especially like the photo of the hitch hiker ant.

Overall very beautiful site, nice job.
