This is for anyone who has Camponotous Questions and where we can answer and give helpful links.
Some quick rules though;
1. Please keep/make this a positive environment
2. If you want to publicize something NOT relating to Camponotous, please don't :)
3. If the conversation is extremely important, and we are trying to figure out about die offs, mold breakout, etc. that is not a numerous atmosphere, please refrain from attempting to change the mood.
4. I will allow anything relating to Camponotous to be allowed in this thread. Please don't abuse this right by spamming something.
5. Any and all forum rules still apply here
Sorry about the rules, I just don't want to have to deal with problems and/or have to report anyone using this thread to a moderator now, or in the future.

I have 4 Camponotus colonies. I have realized only one of them eat the dead workers. Is that common? I was told they don’t waste the protein. My other Camponotus colony leaves their dead in the outworld. Both are c chromaiodes.

Are you cleaning the outworld often? They might be eating the dead workers before they mold because they are very hygienic. I haven't seen this occur with my colonies, but you may also need to feed them some more protein as well.

Yes I have cleaned the out world and nest. It’s a THA mini hearth. Last time I gave them meal worms and they didn’t touch it. Their gasters are very full though. They access to nectar all the time.

That's strange. Have they only rejected mealworms or is it across the board?

Feed them different insects. You can buy some using this link ==> https://www.rainbowmealworms.net/

If they are rejecting those insects, but not eating their dead, it may be time to hibernated them

If they reject the new insects and are still eating the dead, then I suggest talking to a Campomaster such as Ant_Dude, and/or ANTDrew,

Wow I think that's the first time someone other then themselves has referred to them as that.

Thank you very much. I actually know ant drew I bought ants from him. He mentioned that it’s normal for them to do that. I’ll see what happens. If I come up with more questions I’ll post it.

I’ll definitely read the journals. I admire the Camponotus and all ants. They are amazing survivors. Few months back one of my strong colonies had the mold outbreak. Almost half of them died. Now they have recovered and are about quadruple in numbers from what they were before the outbreak.
